Charitable Giving & Estate Planning

Marjorie Fisher, spouse of the late local business mogul Max Fisher, has left each acting member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra $5000. There are 78 members of the DSO. The Fisher family has been a long standing supporter of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. In fact, Mr. Fisher backed the current home for the DSO, the Max. M. Fisher Music Center. The facility also includes a public high school for the performing arts center. The Fishers have supported many other causes individually and through their foundation including arts and, education and healthcare.

Not everyone is blessed with the means to leave such a significant gift. However, that does not mean you cannot have a positive impact on the world around you. Leaving a gift to a cause or charity you support is a great way to allow your legacy live on. Doing so is easy. Simple gifts are generally done through your will or trust, while more complex gifts through a Charitable Trust or Foundation.
